Scaling behavior in land markets
نویسنده
چکیده
We present power law statistics on land markets, which no other studies have so far done. We analyze a database of the assessed value of land that is officially monitored and is made public by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Government of Japan. This is the largest database of Japan’s land prices consisting of approximately 30,000 points for each year of a 6-year period (1995-2000)[25]. By analyzing the data of the posted land price we found the power law distributions of the land prices and of the relative prices of the land. The data fits to a very good degree of approximation the power law distributions. We also found that the price fluctuations are amplified with the level of the price. These results hold for the data for each of the 6 annual intervals. Our empirical findings give the conditions that any empirically accurate theories of land market have to satisfy.

Diffusion entropy analysis on the scaling behavior of financial markets
In this paper the diffusion entropy technique is applied to investigate the scaling behavior of financial markets. The scaling behaviors of four representative stock markets, Dow Jones Industrial Average, Standard&Poor 500, Heng Seng Index, and Shang Hai Stock Synthetic Index, are almost the same; with the scale-invariance exponents all in the interval 1⁄20:92; 0:95 . We also estimate the local...
متن کاملAsymmetric multifractal scaling behavior in the Chinese stock market: Based on asymmetric MF-DFA
We utilized asymmetric multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis in this study to examine the asymmetric multifractal scaling behavior of Chinese stock markets with uptrends or downtrends. Results show that the multifractality degree of Chinese stock markets with uptrends is stronger than that of Chinese stock markets with downtrends. Correlation asymmetries are more evident in large fluctuat...
متن کاملMultiscale Behavior of a Simple Model for Stock Markets
The multiscale behavior of a recently reported model for stock markets is presented. It has been shown that indexes of real-world markets display absolute returns with memory properties on a long-time range, a phenomenon known as cluster volatility. The multiscale characteristics of an index are studied by analyzing the power-law scaling of the volatility correlations which display nonunique sc...
متن کاملFractal Markets Hypothesis and the Global Financial Crisis: Scaling, Investment Horizons and Liquidity
We investigate whether fractal markets hypothesis and its focus on liquidity and investment horizons give reasonable predictions about dynamics of the financial markets during the turbulences such as the Global Financial Crisis of late 2000s. Compared to the mainstream efficient markets hypothesis, fractal markets hypothesis considers financial markets as complex systems consisting of many hete...
متن کاملA Tale of Markets and Jungles in a Simple Model of Growth∗
Institutions affect prospects for economic growth and development. This paper collapses potentially complex interactions of different institutions into a condition on the primitives that determines whether a society supports markets. Agents differ in land holdings, skill, and power, e.g. physical strength, wealth, or status. A competitive market assigns land efficiently to the skilled, not nece...
